Stewards of Creation – A Call For Justice
Our environment is in a crisis … God’s gift of creation is getting more and more compromised. And for some that has left them feeling a sense of hopelessness. Have things gone too far? Have we as human beings contributed to so much destruction that there’s no going back? Where’s the hope when we see the results of climate change and hear the dire predictions of what could well be inevitable.
The prophet Jeremiah writes in chapter 18, verses 15 and 16, “But my people have forgotten me, they burn offerings to a delusion; they have stumbled in their ways, in the ancient roads, and have gone into bypaths, not the highway, making their land a horror, a thing to be hissed at forever.” Or as Eugene Peterson translates it in “The Message”, “But my people have left me to worship the Big Lie. They’ve gotten off the track, the old, well-worn trail, and now bushwhack through underbrush in a tangle of roots and vines. Their land’s going to end up a mess.” Read More.
