Growing in Faith as Adults
Wednesday Evening Reflection Group
On Wednesday evenings throughout the year, we gather in the lounge to reflect together on some aspect of our faith, spirituality and what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ. We use a resource to guide our conversations. There are no right or wrong answers; the experience is in the room; everyone contributes as much as they feel comfortable doing. Together, we learn with and from each other.
We reflect on a biblical passage related to the theme of our evening; discuss questions in small groups; and share together our thoughts and questions. We conclude each evening with a time of prayer.
We have been using the “Pilgrim Series” from the Church of England. Topics we have studied together include
- “Turning to Christ” and the living out of our baptismal covenant
- the Beatitudes
- The Eucharist
This fall we will be reflecting together on “Church & Kingdom”. We are open to topics of interest that people would like to reflect on together as we grow in our faith and ministry as the body of Christ.
Thursday morning Bible Study
A tradition for many years at St. Paul’s is the weekly Eucharist at 10 am on Thursdays followed by bible study. We use the lectionary readings for the following Sunday to guide our conversations and reflection. This is a way to prepare ourselves for Sunday and the readings that will be shared.
The liturgical season of Lent leading up to Easter is an appropriate time to intentionally grow in our faith, our lives of prayer and our relationships with God. A series based on an appropriate theme is offered on Wednesday evenings following a Candlelight Communion service.
