Spiritual Sunglasses

Sometimes the sun is so blinding that we can’t see. For the health of our eyes, it’s important to shield them from the harmful rays that can lead to compromised vision down the road. I keep a pair of prescription sunglasses in each of our cars and in the house to use when I’m on the deck.

There can be so much going on in the world, and in our own lives too, that causes us to squint because we’re blinded by the realities we experience. The Covid 19 pandemic has exacerbated that given all we hear in the media and roll out of vaccines that sometimes is stalled and the projections of what is yet to come. And there are more blinding moments when we hear of another fatal shooting and increasing violence; or abuses of power that lead to outrage and rebellion; or the injustice of racial discrimination that goes unaddressed; or other diseases like cancer that compromise health and wellbeing.
