Spiritual Lessons from Training Honey

As I’ve been going about the various parts of training Honey, I’ve thought about the spiritual lessons I’m being reminded of too. Sometimes we, like Honey, need training and reinforcing as we grow more and more into the faithful disciples we are called to be as followers of Jesus Christ.

First, training Honey is about repetition, doing the same routine over and over again. And implicit of course is the hope that she will get to better at the particular behavior we’re working on. Isn’t the same true for us and what we need spiritual in our faith formation throughout our lives. We too need the repetition of hearing what God hopes for us and desires of us. And, like the disciples of Jesus time, we need to hear the same thing repeated over and over again. Hopefully we at some point get what God is asking of us and become more faithful in following.
