“Hate Has No Home Here”
Last week when I was out for a morning walk, I stopped at the lookout in Veteran’s Park on Main Street. I was appalled to see that a swastika had been spray painted on the base along with a reference to Hitler. There is no place in our community for such a display of hatred that is hurtful and brings up memories of an experience that was horrific.
God’s calling on his people in all time is simple when we confront such behavior that is meant to demean another person. In Micah 6: 8 we read, “He has told you, O mortal, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” Our calling is always to do just that as we are agents for justice, peace, respect and reconciliation.
