Cast Me Not Away From Your Presence

In my musings throughout Lent I am reflecting on Psalm 51 verses 10 to 12 … “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and put a new and right spirit within me. Do not cast me away from your presence, and do not take your holy spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and sustain in me a willing spirit.” This week I will focus on the second phrase … “cast me not away from your presence”.

I don’t believe that God ever casts us out and drives us away from His presence. The truth that allows us to boldly make that statement of faith is that He sent us Jesus, who along with God sent us the Holy Spirit to always be our companion. The promise God made, and fulfilled in Jesus, is true; God is never far from us; we are never distanced from the one who creates us and loves us; God is always beside us, behind us, in front of us and most importantly within us.
