“Take Not Your Holy Spirit From Me”

In my musings throughout Lent I am reflecting on Psalm 51 verses 10 to 12 … “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and put a new and right spirit within me. Do not cast me away from your presence, and do not take your holy spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and sustain in me a willing spirit.” This week I will focus on the phrase … “take not your Holy Spirit from me”.

As was the case last week about being cast out from god’s presence, I don’t think God ever takes His Holy Spirit away from us. Although we may give him reason to, God’s promise through Jesus is that the gift of the Spirit in our lives is eternal.
