Join Us This Sunday

Each Sunday we celebrate Communion together at 10:30 am with music, hymns, scripture readings, a sermon and prayers. Although masks are optional, we strongly encourage those worshiping to wear a mask for their own protection and the protection of others. We look forward to welcoming you to St. Paul’s.

Jesus, the original social influencer

This past summer in a Facebook conversation, I was referred to as a social media influencer. That comment made me stop to think about what the person might have been saying. I realized that I do post with relative frequency on Facebook, sometimes sharing photos and news and other times raising awareness of issues and other times sharing inspirations of faith and spirituality. So I took her comment as a compliment recognizing that perhaps I was in a position to influence attitudes, faith and faithfulness through my online presence. But I also realized that with that comes a responsibility to be aware that what I say and how I say it.

That conversation made me think of all the ways we are influenced throughout our lives. As children, we are influenced most by our parents and teachers. And as we mature and get a bit older, we grow in confidence such that we might challenge some of what those influencers say to us and the wisdom they impart to us. That’s a good thing as we learn how to be independent thinkers, forming opinions of our own based on what we learn and hear from others.

When it comes to our faith, the primary influencer is none other than Jesus. Read More.
